Dr Seuss Madness!!
Over the passed few weeks we have gone Dr Seuss mad!! We have been studying this wonderful writer in our feature author study. We have looked at the variety of wonderful books that he has written, we have looked at the man behind the Dr Seuss name, and we have created plenty of fantastic art and crafts that have allowed us to have fun amongst the wonderful and whacky world of Dr Seuss.

Senior School Camp
Our Year five and six students were extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to take three days out of school to spend exploring the outdoors at Camp Whakamaru which is located just outside of Taupo, along the mighty Waikato river. We had an amazing time and shared in many new adventures and experiences together. We walked tight ropes and practiced our trapeze skills at Action World, we completed a night trail walk through a darkened forest, we crawled through caves, we roasted marshmallows around a camp fire, we tried our hands at archery, we abseiled, rode go karts, swam in the river, and most importantly we had fun!
It was a great camp and a great group of students to take away. Congratulations to Zareus and Manaea who were named our joint '2014 Campers of the Year'. Great work boys! What great role models and helpers you were.

Our School Trip to Cape Kidnappers
On Tuesday (18th March) we went on a school trip to Cape Kidnappers to see the Gannets and the beautiful landscape that surrounds our beautiful region.
We had an amazing time cruising down the beach front on the back of the tractors, looking up at the cliff sides and learning about how they have been changed and sculpted over the years. We even managed to fit in our weekly fitness with a pretty enduring walk up the hill to where the Gannets rest. What an amazing sight it was to see so many birds perching so peacefully together. The view from the top wasn't bad either! A great reminder of what a beautiful region we belong to and what incredible places we have in our backyards!
Thank you Mrs Wilson for organising such a great school trip! Thank you also to our tour guides for the day, and to our wonderful parent helpers of whom we couldnt offer such opportunities without!
We are busy writing some wonderful recounts about our trip in class and once these are published we will send them home to share with our whanau.
Until then, enjoy some of our pictures from day...

Room 8 are Super Savers!
No, we cant help you save money, but we can help save your life!
Today Room 8 was fortunate to have Lia from the Red Cross organisation in to teach us how to save someones life, keep them safe, prevent further injury, and how to comfort those in need.
We learned some very valuable first aide skills and how we can apply them in real life situations. We also had great fun bandaging each other up, moving each other into the recovery position, and learning how to check for responses.
Well done Room 8 on a great day of learning and thank you Lia for coming in to share your expertise and experience with us!
Stay safe whanau!
